Impossible is nothing!
My blog
Thanks Stef.
I feel pretty mobile now but get tired very quickly. My morning routine involves eating breakfast and then retiring to bed for a couple of hours to recover from the effort of chewing toast. What's that all about?!
Glad you're enjoying the Walpole. Having made the recommendation, I've still not got round to it, but it's good to know that our excursion through Watendlath was so inspiring!

For those who follow these things, I thought it was time for an update.
5 weeks after surgery I'm back jogging gently. I managed 4 miles this afternoon at a slow pace.
The first three weeks I attempted nothing, which was correct.
Then we went to Wales for a holiday and I felt up to trying to run a slow mile, which proved to be fine appendix-wise, but a overall was a bad move because I'd underestimated the effects of lying in bed for the best part of a month: it was my calf that went!
Thinking about it, I'd not been able to do my back exercises - because back exercises are also front exercises, and would have pulled too much on the scar - and that probably set me up for the leg injury.
So I've worked on that for another two weeks. In that time, the external scar has nearly healed, which is probably a good indicator of the repair process internally too.
I went back to work last week on a phased return. I struggled at first but built up strength as the week went on. I hope to do a full timetable from tomorrow. It's lucky I've not had infections or other fairly common complications such as pneumonia or interstitial hernia (yet!).
I aim to try the Hawkshead 10 mile trail next weekend; I've dropped down from the race proper to the 'challenge' event for joggers and Nordic walkers. If I can get round that intact, 6 weeks after major surgery, I'll be a jovial rabbit. I'm not bothered about how long it takes.

Fab stuff TF, sounds like you have the right approach and that it is paying off
Enjoy next weekend's challenge - it can be a bit of a luxury having an excuse to take things a bit easy.
Mission completed!
