    Thumbs up "Today's" or "todays"?

Opinions differ as to whether it should be "today's" :closed: or "todays"
maddaddy went with grammatical orthodoxy; increasingly, local councils have decided to abolish the apostrophe. So there we are..

    See you in a year

The original "Today's" thread, http://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/showt...day-s-Training set the precedent of being Today's, not todays. Although looking down the list of Today's threads even I appear to be consistently inconsistent...

Losing my fell running shoes for a year will hardly be a loss!

Is it "fellrunning shoes" or "fell running shoes" ???

Speaking as an unrepentant pedant and GOM, it's not a matter of opinion at all. And local councils can run themselves as they see fit, including using incorrect English, as long as they continue to represent the people appropriately. They can't abolish the apostrophe, although they are free to abuse it if they wish. In the context of forum thread names, "Today's" is correct, and "Todays" is incorrect. I'm not voting on it, as it's not a matter of opinion (in my pedantic view).

    I'll second that.

Or rather not, because you're not voting.

I still think that two days is correct.
Yesterday, today and tomorrow are all singular and cannot have plural forms.

Correct use of the humble apostrophe is quite simple but important to ensure the correct meaning of the word is understood. It's not a matter of opinion.
