Thanks Wheeze that's the low down I was after! Was anyone else there that day...? (1990)
And I'll take up your idea about the prize pot - we'll have a bucket for donations for the record prize, as well as the sponsorship. Could get quite interesting in a few years.
Maybe Andi Jones and a few others could match the ascent time, but I doubt anyone could combine it with that descent!
I might even get back in training mesel'..... (I wish).
Anyone reckon this is there for the taking...?

    Doh I meant 1992.
1990 was the ladies record, strangely set by two people, perhaps in some 3-legged style which would make it all the more impressive... the info I have is:
    38.15 P.Calder/C.Crofts 1990
    Anyone know more?
Now that record could be properly mashed, coz even I have done it faster than that (37:07, 2004) and I regularly get beaten by good ladies.
    There, so now you know.

If I can just turn 'quantum leap' theory into practice, that will put me on the summit, and I reckon I'm in with a chance of making it to the bottom inside 30 minutes.
Best go up my shed this evening and start practicing
Don't roll with a pig in poo. You get covered in poo and the pig likes it.

I was there Summit marshall. Glad I was. I'll never forget the sight of Keith Anderson piling over the edge(HVS if you were to climb up it!) and then just blitzing down the Cwm. Keith, I have your brain if you ever want it back!
Will that record be broken, nah, never. I'll put some money in the pot

    Crispin,
The ladies record is jointly held by Trish and Clare but from different years.
    The 1990 results are.
    1. Trish Calder 38.15
    2. J Johnson 41.05
    3. Lydia Kirk 41.10

Clare equalled that time in the '92 championship race when Trish did not compete.

Anderson won the mens race in '90 in 31.06 by just 2 seconds from Colin Donnelly.

Thanks Wheeze - I'm trying to gather results from past years, so if you have any more or can tell me where to find them that would be great. I'm told Pete Maggs used to be the organiser - do you know how to contact him?

Hi, these are the leaders from 1985 (I think). Forty six completed and several of us did the Llangorse Loop in the afternoon after some beer in Llangorse. (Various misadventures and drop outs!) The top was in snow and we ran all the way up. I lost a minute on the down.

I have all 46 results. MDC will have lots of Welsh results!

    1. Glyn Griffiths Eyri 34.24
    2. Hefin Griffiths Eyri 34.26
    3. Di Roberts Eyri 34.40
    4. Di Davies Eyri 34.47 1st vet
    5. Huw Parry Eyri 35 19 2nd vet
    6. Ray Eagle MDC 35.28
    7. Paul Hampson MDC 36.15

    1. Sian Roberts Eyri 1st Lady 44.54
    2. Alice Bedwell MDC 46.29
    3. Ann Franklin MDC 47.52

I confess I had a lunch time pint that year!! Mind you I reckon I ran better in the afternoon at Llangorse than I did on Pen y Fan

Ooh and another thing, as Mr Wheeze reminded me earlier today, I happened to take some video footage of that famous race in 1992 as they all piled over the summit. Wheeze has it somewhere(it was his camera), wonder if we can dig it out.........

And good luck tomorrow boys and girls, its gonna be a wet one

Morning all... Wheeze you are going to need some good coffee. Me too.
Looking out of my window, Pen y Fan is hidden by murk, but it looks to be the lifting kind. Also, it hasn't rained for several hours. So the race is definitely on.
15 degrees, no wind, nice slippy descent, perfect for fast times!
I'm afraid we drank some of the prizes last night, you know how it goes - but the record prize still stands at £100.
