    Langdale Horseshoe.

I was thinking about entering the Langdale Horseshoe as part of my training for the OMM in late October. Although I'm not a member of a Club or the FRA can I still enter??

I've never entered a fell race before but I've done lots of similar type events and Orienteering events whilst in the Army.

You don't need to be a member of a club or the FRA - the key is to have experience.
I don't know what you class as a "similar type" of event - but the Langdale Horseshoe is pretty serious, especially in poor weather. The terrain is particularly rough, even for a Lake District fell race, and even involves down climbing the bad step off the Crinkle Crags. The main things you need are experience of running in the big hills in the Lake District and some mountain sense.
I'd contact the organiser and tell him what other events you have completed recently.

Can't find an up to date thread for this, but still.

Entrance cheque posted off the other day.

'Psyched' as they say. Can't wait.

Sent my entry off today. I just looked up my previous Langdale result from 2007 of 3 hours 13 and I would dearly love to smash that

Me too, both the wife and I have confirmed entries (just checked Ambleside website). Recce'd the course on Sunday, it's a tough one alright ..... I know it's meant to be the correct route, but traversing under Esk Pike felt very hard! The last time I went over Esk Pike itself was on a lovely, bright July morning and it felt easy .... I might keep the option up my sleeve.
