    Re: Langdale route question

A superb race in excellent waether conditions. The going was a bit hard in places because of the wet ground, but I managed to avoid falling into the bog on Martcrag Moor this year. Another runner wasn't quite so lucky! Photos here:

    Ian,

Great pictures. I spoke to you as we contoured up to Rossett Pike, and you have got my backside in a couple of shots; sorry about that!. A great memory of the day.

Can't find an up to date thread for this, but still.

Entrance cheque posted off the other day.

'Psyched' as they say. Can't wait.

Sent my entry off today. I just looked up my previous Langdale result from 2007 of 3 hours 13 and I would dearly love to smash that

Me too, both the wife and I have confirmed entries (just checked Ambleside website). Recce'd the course on Sunday, it's a tough one alright ..... I know it's meant to be the correct route, but traversing under Esk Pike felt very hard! The last time I went over Esk Pike itself was on a lovely, bright July morning and it felt easy .... I might keep the option up my sleeve.

Yes, what I did under Esk Pike can't really be described as running. Tiptoeing like a fairy comes closer to the mark

Didn't notice the route went to Esk Hause, I just presumed it went up the path from Angle Tarn to between Esk Pike and Bow Fell. Never tried traversing under Esk Pike but I'd have thought going over the top would be easier! Where do you branch off from the main path, at the shelter itself?

A quick question about the start as well, I noticed there's a checkpoint to the east of Pavey Ark (289080), so is there a bit of a path up around the east of Pavey's Ark southern face? I've only ever been up Jack's Rake and I'm presuming the route doesn't go up there?
