Indeed - didn't Ben Abdelnoor take the line over the top last year, winning the race in the process? I would have liked the leisure to do a timed run of both routes so I could be sure which is the faster (for me) as that traverse is truly horrible .... I'll probably do it that way again though.

p.s. I agree with Stolly, there's nowt to be gained by taking the higher line over Stake Pass, I know some people use this route on BGRs, but for the race the "normal" BG ascent line under Black Crags is the way to go.

I think it was the year before that Ben Abdelnoor did that. I'd like to try it, but would want to recce it and haven't had the chance. Definitely keen to try it at some point.

I hope there's been a bit of rain; it's a bit tame in the dry.

I think I'd prefer dry and not slippy at all, don't fancy a repeat of last year with my knee and the helicopter! Think I'll be taking it easy round there this time.

Of course you're right Josh, my memory is failing as fast as my ability to run downhill. Or uphill, if I'm honest.

Or on the pretty much flat if we're talking about the Esk Pike traverse!
