Thanks! I might be getting a lift with a friend anyway, but if don't I'll send you a PM.

How do you train the dog to take photos of you, Stolly?

It may appear that its just me (and Harry) surviving in the wilderness, against all the odds, but like Bear Grylls I have a well equipped camera crew in attendance at all times

Does anybody who's done this race have a GPS trace of the distance / height gain? The entry form says 14 miles 4k feet but when I do the internet googley map thing I seem to get less miles but much more height gain

Does anybody have an accurate distance and height?

    Thanks.

There are a couple of tracks here http://www.dpfr.org.uk/#googlemaps/track/193/194 on the Dark Peak site, 12.5 miles 5000ft. Last did it 9 years ago and it certainly felt longer than these stats suggest.

I have a trace from my race last year here. Mine roughly matches the DPFR ones at just under 12.5 miles and abot 4,700ft. If you follow this you avoid the Bad Step too!

Weather forecast is for sun, frost, rain, cloud, mist and wind. Think I might need a bigger bum bag.

    Saturday
A fine start but chilly with a touch of frost in
sheltered dales. Cloud soon spreading from the west with
rain extending across the ranges during the afternoon.
Cloud bases lowering to cover the summits, then lower
levels later. Gales or storm force winds developing.

Anyone tested to see whether it's quicker to go down bad step or go around? I'd have thought bad step was quicker but just curious!
