No worries, I'll try harder to say hello next time.

In fact when I went down bad step it was like the grand national at beechers brook; one guy went flying into a rolly polly over the rocks trying to go down the main step, I then slipped as I landed and hurtled into a boulder which seemed to break off the mountain side when I hit it with my forearm and the next guy behind me I heard hit the ground with some kind of dull thud - he said he thought initially he'd broken his leg but no such luck; he later whizzed past me coming off Blisco! I also have grazed hands, a scratched shin and a tiny little blood blister on the little finger of my right hand.

    Brilliant, brilliant race though.
    Oh go on! :w00t:

    Re: Langdale Horseshoe.

Hi Nosemi, sorry to miss you at the end, I suspect I was a good hour behind you! I was totally set to go round the bad step but ended up on it before I knew what was happening and I turned round to go back but the lady I mentioned convinced me to go for it. Funnily enough, I made a better job of it in the wet than I did the previous week in glorious sunshine but she did practically lift me off the final bit!!! I hope you had a good race. Got to thank the cheery marshals too...I was so pleased to see them each time and it must have been a horrible job.

    Tough race.
    Any photos or results anywhere?

[QUOTE=joeyd;438628]I'd like to add my thanks to all the marshalls and race organisers. I'd also like to thank the lady in red who advised me to sing to myself on the final descent to keep my spirits up - it worked a treat. My scraped knees were really sore by then. A shower revealed a gash deep enough to warrant a trip to A&E for special glue and clips (and annoyingly a forced week off til it mends.) Still, I'm planning to be back next year. A cracking race all round. [/QUOT

Bloomin heck Joey - looking forward to hearing the full story on the Hurriers google group

First batch of my photos here:

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/felland...7627731399135/

Taken on the section just before the road crossing at the final checkpoint. Features about the first 70 runners through that point so far.

Many more photos to come soon - I'm working my way through them!

You're my new favourite photographer FF, for the first time ever someone has taken a photo of me in a race in which I'm both (A) running and (B) not looking like I'm about to collapse! (A) is particularly impressive since I spent about 90% of the section between Blisco and the road sliding around on my arse hopelessly out of control. I'm no. 372 - top of the second page.

    Re: Langdale Horseshoe Race

Quick update while I continue drying race gear out.
Results completed - should be on Ambleside website soon.
Runner without bumbag has been disqualified. Will be reported to FRA who will determine sanction. Minimum is ban from this race until a formal apology is recd. 2 runners timed out, found not to have waterproof trousers, are also being reported to FRA.
Thanks for compliments on race but dont hesitate to suggest improvements for consideration.
Will try to get a race summary out soon.
    Roger
