Planning on doing the race at Great Hucklow this coming Sunday.
Can anybody help out a pathetic newbie, and give me a bit of info on route etc...?
Cheers in advance

Did this 2 years ago when it was a scorcher. It's starts gently enough over fields before climbing up to Durham edge then across Abney Moor to Abney Low and drops quite steeply into Bretton Clough. A bit of a slog up the clough before a steep climb out then its down through some woods and back across fields to the finish.
It was well marked and marshalled so no real route finding problems. I can't do it this year unfortunately.
bigfella - many thanks for that.
I have my first ever "Cat.A" (Shining Tor) looming, and am trying to get a bit of practice in.
Sorry no info on this race, however never thought about it really until now, but all my races have been cat As from the outset. I think that's 'cause most races in Scotland are, but it really never felt like an issue, and I am no superfast runner.
Just run and enjoy it, as long as it isn't crazy long and whatever the conditions you have some hill sense and nav skills then remember it's time in the hills and that's what's special!

Is it meant to be this hard?
My overidding memories of this race from 2 years ago are that it was bone dry and the first section was over a field that was very rutted - not good on the ankles!
I somehow doubt that any part of the route will be "bone dry" by Sunday!
I'm basically trying gradually to increase the distance and/or ascent of the races I do.
I'm looking at Passing Clouds in October,
and have a beady eye on Fairfield Horseshoe next year...
