200 metres north of The Wagon and Horses on the same side of the road is the main car park.
Langsett Barn, ex Peak Park visitors centre, is at the bottom end of the car park.

    How much can you eat?
Summit of woodhead, Fiddlers Green, will be a feed station that will have tea, fruit, muesli bars and anything else we are given.
There are other feed stations on the long walking route, main one at Woodhead MRT HQ.
At the finish there will be beef stew, tea, fruit and again whatever else we are given to help raise the necessary readies for the team.

Went out again last night and nearly lost some one to the Bogmonster. Only up to his tackle but he was at the edge of a bog!

The run down to Fiddlers is also quite wet but from there on it should be fine.

See you all at the race on top of Cutgate

The climb up to windle edge can be very wet and boggy, there is a bridge at one of the boggy areas but its not much help!! This area can be worse than the moorland, a few years ago a horse had to be rescued from one of the bogs when it sank up to its belly!!!

    See you all tomorrow

Its quite safe in this area now, Barnsley council have put notices up saying beware of the bog so everything is OK

See you at the start on Saturday.

Snow shoes or tennis rackets might work in places! but will slow you down on the firmer paths. Waders might be a good compromise

    Good luck for tommorrow

Talking Re: Grin and bear it

I only managed to sink up to my knees once just before the turn to Round Hill and I much prefered the bogs to the TPT which was v hard on the poor old bones!

Low point after crossing the road near Flouch, but I was cheered up hugely by spotting the orange tape at the steps in the woods and going the right way unlike the folks who had just hurtled past me! (I would have called them back, but they were just so fast.....)

Thanks to all who organised the event. The cup of tea at the end was fantastic!

I might even give it another go next year. Right, what's next?
