    Recommend me a race!

Hi! I did my first Fell Race last night - Kettleshulme. Absolutely loved it! Looking to do some more. Based in Buxton ad don't want to be travelling too far. Up for shortish races - up to 9 miles (not mega fit yet!) with not too many navigation issues (couldn't cope with getting lost ...baby steps!)

Anyone recommend any races for me? Cheers Rachel

Teggs Nose, 3rd August from Sheepdog Trial Field, Sutton, near Macc.

7.3 miles and ~1600'. Tough enough; very pretty route; well marshalled / signed, and not far from home

    Welcome Rachel

Have a look through races section (http://fellrunner.org.uk/races.php)

They are all great and as you get your self known on here you will meet other forumites at the races.

Good folks and good events and good fun.

How could I forget the Trout Run (though it's likely to be full by now) and Bosley I haven't yet tried, though plan to this year.

I agree Tim... the Goyt Valley series is great.

In fact, I have never regretted any of the races I've done... you're bang on the money Trevor... good atmosphere and friendly people a-plenty.

It's great to be involved Rachel...hope you enjoy yourself.

I'll keep my eye out for you at Bosley. Its the only race that I've ever come last in. I ran with my Sister and promised her that she would not be last. I took that postion so that she didn't have to.
I'm hoping for a much better time this year.

    One final link from me...

Rachel - You have loads of events that are not far from Buxton. Hope you have fun racing during 2013

    Re: Recommend me a race!

Welcome to the happy world of local fell races, Rachel. I was at Kettleshulme last night (my first time on that one). As you build up your repertoire you will soon get to recognise the same usual suspects at the races. It's one big happy family.

Lots of good race lists already given by others. Truck, you beat me to it with the link to Steve Temple's site. It's one of my main references.
