    A long BG reccie tomorrow

Anyone fancy a long day out tomorrow?

The weather looks OK so Im tempted to either start at dunmail and out and back to scafell pike on the BG route, or start at threlkeld, and go as far as high raise or the pikes for a 10 hour route - can drop a bag at dunmail for rations.

Would love to have joined you AI but can't make tomorrow :-(

Will be there at the weekend...possibly planning the Dunmail to Scafell route on Saturday. Going to stay at Langdale NT Campsite so I'll get someone to drop me off at Dunmail.

May be staying up Monday/Tuesday as well so possibly looking at another recce on one of those days.

How did you get on AI? Did you have a good day? Any little tips on route choices you can share?

Am planning to do Dunmail start on Saturday. Not sure if I'll get to Scafell but, if I do, was planning the Lords Rake route up. Any thoughts on the safety of that route at the moment?

    Lords Rake News
    July 2007 Update
No real change in the situation of late. The leaning pillar is still there but seems now to be seure as there is tons of loose rubble that has come from the West wall traverse wall collapse. This means that the route is still very unstable and there is a lot of rubble trundling down the rake. Advice remains the saem, take extream care if using the route, don't go in if someone is ahead of you as they may knock rubble down onto you, and don't go in if you are not comfortable on loose, moving rubble and scree.
The pictures below are from the Wasdale Mountain Rescue teams website that is also monitoring the situaiton

Ah that's great thanks Huw Might be worth a go then.

Ooh, just realised I've not been up Lords Rake before. Do BGRers who go this way take the West Wall Traverse or continue straight up the Rake and then head back to the summit?

"tons of loose rubble that has come from the West wall traverse wall collapse".

I'm getting concerned now.... am planning on West Wall Traverse on my round on 21st. It was loose with plenty bits flaking off as I climbed a few weeks ago. BUT, has there been any major rockfalls in last 4 weeks ?

    Any comments greatly appreciated.
