    advice coming off yewbarrow

    Hi all

I'm helping on an anticloickwise round this Friday (one of many re-scheduled due to poor weather).

Happy with most of it, but any advice - or a bearing - for best line off Yewbarrow summit down into Wasdale would be welcome

Presume just follow the bearing on the Harvey map - any easy features to get you on the right line?

    Cheers all

My advice would be to go and recce it tomorrow! It is an easy enough route to follow if you know it, but it isn't a straightforward and simple run off on a bearing!

Have to agree with that. Lower down there is a stream bed that you follow but it may not be that easy to see it from the top as it is pretty rought ground up there. You could end up descending through bracken a few meters to one side of a good path.

There is an obvious trod leading all the way down from the summit cairn. You cant miss it.

    Anyway here's the line:

Thanks all - appreciate the obvious 'go-and-see-it', but that's not possible this time at short notice.

Thanks especially for the map line Stolly; I'm sure I can miss it, but will do best not to.

More good days ahead to be had - it'll be good being out in a section I don't visit that often.

    My advice
don't get your bearing 90 degrees wrong (by lining compass on the wrong lines).
The clag was down to 600ft so no other cues to tell us it was wrong
THat siad though we didn't lose any time on the schedule for that leg..!
