The race has only been run twice with a slightly different route each time. There is a map of the route on the Esk Valley web-site and the routes are usually marked with tape. Link to map here:

I ran it in road shoes as it was bone dry, but I went over on my ankle inside the first mile as you hurtle down into the woods I sat there as the whole feild went past and was about to walk back to the start but instead ran from the back of the field.... so whatever you wear when its bone dry but a bit knarly, tree stumps and the like, lot of it is through woodland, and I only seem to recall one drawn out ascent, then a couple little uphills toward the finish

Walkers removing race tape resulted in me dropping from 6th place, with a couple of miles to go, to finish at the back. Did 8.8 miles instead of 7 ! I blame the North Yorks Moors runner I was trailing, he should have known the route !

Have run the first two, otherwise engaged or i would have made the trip. There are a few direction changes that can catch the unwary. Good run out i hope, the uphill finish always seemed to be laced with treacle!

Hopefully the village hall tea and cakes were upto scratch.

    Is enjoying the running

Well, the revised route I did was cracking ! And my son assures me that the chocolate cake, in the village hall, was "amazing" ! I upset the lady behind the counter by asking if they were all home made ! There were loads of them !!
