Swollen fingers at 3000ft

I understand swollen fingers can be a sign of dehydration - its sometimes easy to get dehydrated in winter conditions 'cos you feel less inclined to drink enough, compared to a hot summer day?

Ultra runners get this I understand - my partner gets it after just an hour or two; the reason behind it is debated but probably multi-factorial with centrifugal force from arm swinging, constricting clothing/back pack straps, overhydration, and increased blood flow all playing their part. I doubt 3,000 ft of elevation is relevant.

It is not a sign of aging young sir.. Is it just your fingers that swell up?? Do you have gloves on?? Does this happen in summ
er as well as spring??
