    Re: Trail/Fell minimal shoe

I run in New Balance MT101s (can you still get these?) and have a few pairs still in the box as I like them so much. Grip doesn't look too hot but they are great for trail and dry(ish) fell. Grip isn't too much of a problem unless you are racing or its really really muddy. The biggest problem for me with minimalist shoes is that the uppers aren't really upto constant scuffing from rocks and heather.
Cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run

I'm with you bigfella. I love MT101's - they do everything I want to do, and fit my fairly wide feet well. I used to have trouble with twisted ankles on 'normal' trail shoes, but no problem at all now. I hope you can still get them - like you I've got one pair still in the box just in case...

I'm also a big fan of the 101s and tend to use them for everything. Cheap too. Another thing I like is when I (rarely nowadays) switch to Xtalons for things like Langdale in the wet the drop and feel is the same as it is with my Kinvaras that I use on the road.

New Balance MT110 are awesome and seem to tick all your boxes. And they're £25 on Sports Direct at mo (or £37 for new colour way). Cracking!

The newer version of the MT110 have an improved sole - the older version had a slightly raised lateral edge which may give you problems. You can belt sand it down though.
