For me, the Speedcross 3's have been the best fell/trail running shoes I've ever worn so far. I guess there'll always be a bit of a compromise in any shoe you buy and most shoes struggle with wet rock but these are a comfortable fit with a relatively low profile that allows the natural spring of your arch to work and just enough cushioning for long distances like the Fellsman. Might be tempted to try Fellraisers next.....
......yes, I know I'm a bit muddy
I got some speedcross in a sale and loved them. Could do with more aggressive grip sometimes but very good for trails. Slight niggle to my Achilles, I think because of the slightly raised heel. have just bought some fellraisers as i found a good offer and the spedcross arenow falling apart. I ran the Wye 50in them brand new and had no real problems. he grip is slightly better than on speedcross but the shoes under my outside ankle bone is less soft and has rubbed.
Would fellraiser be ok for Hardmoors 110?
So speed cross?
I used them last year and then changed into some more road like north face ones simply coz I wanted dry socks, shoes and a change in feel at about 80 miles. It wasn't really muddy along the coast so no problem. Cushioning for the Scarborough bit would be a good idea
So did you wear Speedcross for the first 80 miles Karen

Loving my Fellraisers.
have used Inov-8 F Lite 230s, NB 110, Sense Ultras etc etc.
For the price, Fellraiser a nice combo of cush and ground feel. Nice, wider forefoot. I have taken out the insole and the fit and feel's even better.
Shocking on wet hard surfaces but then not much is great on that.
