    Malham - Matlock

If anyone fancies a long one on Saturday (ooer missus) a couple of us are planning to run from Malham to Matlock, which is a shade over 100 miles (well it was a nice round number) completely unimaginative I know but there you go. The route follows the Pennine way then part of the Derwent Watershed route, and has frequent road crossings where we hope there will be a car with some butties and dry socks in it . It's about 14,000 ft of ascent and generally very pleasant running. If you would like to join us, PM me or Grouse.
I'm gonna get that cwazy gwouse...

Looks like I've got a good excuse to dip out of this one, now. Di's working all day Saturday, and I don't think Emma will be able to keep up with us for that distance (or maybe we wouldn't keep up with her?)

Have a good one, anyway, and I hope the weather's kind to you.

I was just about to depart for Wessenden Head this morning, to provide pacing/sherpa duties on the leg crossing Black Hill and the Holme Moss area, that the guys had decided to pull the plug on the attempt near Hebden Bridge.

I gather that they suffered with really difficult conditions, heavy rain and mud right from the beginning, following their midnight start. This had taken its toll on timekeeping as well as energy levels, and they were unable to keep to their schedule.

Nevertheless, one hell of a brave attempt. Over 8 hours and 40+ miles in really awful conditions. Well done lads!

I am sure they will try again sometime...

I ended up going for a training run over Chinley Churn instead. That was pretty boggy, so Black Hill must be quite squelchy by now!
