    The 3 round challenge? BGPBRR

After watching dozens of headtorch clad descenders of Ben Nevis make their way into cars and cars and set of for Scafell Pike this weekend as part of 3 peak challenges, I wondered over the possibility of a 3 round challenge. To complete the Ramsay, and head for the Moot Hall! And so on!

Has anyone done this? Tried this?
I have heard of back to back weekend rounds..

Yes (but not me!). See http://www.ramsaysround.com/history/...

'Mike Hartley (No 10) completed all three rounds consecutively in 3 days 14 hours and 20 minutes in July 1990, covering a distance of 187 miles with 83,000 feet of ascent to include 113 tops.'

And http://www.gofar.org.uk/UKBig3Records.html for times (21:14 for the Ramsay, 23:48 for the BG and 33:30 for the Paddy)!

Mike Hartley (I think?) did all three on consecutive days, sub 24 for the Ramsay and BG and a bit over for the Paddy.

And Helene Whitaker (Diamantedes - sp?) did all three within a month I think. Me: "The Ramsay's hard because the season's so short for reccying and doing it"; Helene: "Just turn up and do it"!

Mike Hartley 3 days 14 hours is just amazing!
One round per year would be my goal at the min!

There is an excellent account of Mike Hartley's triple in Mike Cudahy's book "Wild Trails to Far Horizons". Mike [Cudahy] was of course the first person to run the Pennine Way in under three days .... worth reading the book to appreciate the endeavour involved in that!

Mike [Hartley's] PW record is nothing short of unbelievable, one of those records that might stand for a long time.
