    Your not wrong. The problem I have with this is what do you class as a national treasure. I honestly don't think the bulk of people listed on here are true national treasures. For example Cheryl Cole is adored by millions yet is probably reviled by an equal number and was labelled by the tabloid press as a national treasure. Vera Lynn on the other hand probably actually is a national treasure, and is held in high esteem by the vast majority of people.
    Personally I struggle to think of true national treasures, show me a hero and someone else will label them a villain.

    Bruce Forsyth is the clear winner in this thread. He epitomises the idea of a national treasure, dire, long past the use by date on his limited ability, but still getting the big gigs cos of some notion that he is just a treasure.

    It's hard for these child stars. I preferred his pre-war work.
