Impressed with Steve for blogging details of route, potential savings etc http://stevebirkinshaw-wainwright2014.blogspot.co.uk/ - look forward to following progress. Joss booklet is defo a great insight into the man and the achievement.

Steve, is the difference between your route and Joss' that he did one book per day? Your route looks like it takes a more optimal line but doesn't do a book per day, particularly the Central and Eastern Fells. No criticism, just interested.

This is coming from someone who has so far taken 45 years to do just 199 of the Wainwrights - really must finish them off.

Just checked the book and it looks like Joss didn't do one book per day either. Unless the books have changed, but I'd be surprised. Worth double-checking?

Maybe he didn't then, it was something that I think was mentioned in an interview with Julia Bradbury in her "Walks with Wainwright" series. It may be that it was summarised a seven books in seven days.

Chris Bland did a book a day starting and finishing at a church. Alan Heaton then did all the Wainwrights as a continuous round starting and finishing at the Moot Hall, then Joss also did all 214 peaks as a continuous round on a slightly different route from Alan but also starting and finishing at the Moot Hall. Alan and Joss ignored the books and just selected a route linking the tops.

The reason my route is different to Joss' is I think I have found a better route.

I had a chat with Joss the other night and he was very supportive of my attempt, which is great.

I will try and sort out the sponsorship on my blog in the next few days

    Bump.
Steve starts this weekend, leaving Keswick Moot Hall at 09:00 Saturday.
