    Older the better?

I was browsing the results for the Llangynhafal Loop race on WFRA (no idea why as I have no interest, don't even know where it is), but what struck me was that the first 10 places consisted of: 6 x V40, 2 x V50, 1 x lady and 1 x solitary U40 male. What's going on here, do the young men have no pride anymore and happy to be passed by oldies?
Don't roll with a pig in poo. You get covered in poo and the pig likes it.

Yep, Jayne's doing well. And you have no interest in Wales, tssskk?? Llangynhafal Loop is a lovely circuit from the West side of the Clwydian hills, from about where the Intercounties & Fell Relays have been run in recent years.

Being overrun with vets is nothing new, and especially when many 30-somethings are busy at a champs race like Coniston, or the "UK trail running assoc. short course champs" at the Red Kite Challenge, Aberystwyth (I would have been fit to run this if I wasn't on a plane on Saturday).

The 4.99% "Administration Fee" is more than most fell races!

No interest in racing anymore, love Wales, lived here nearly 30 years. I may even have done the race if it existed years ago, I did a few up there.

    But...
    "..The Afterparty is Free..."

It seems like they are trying to crudely mimic a 'yield management technique' for setting the race entry price bands.
That in itself would be enough to put me off, leaving aside the price itself.

I notice that a "Fully Waymarked Route" is advertised as a plus-point...

    back to the OPs point

    For the mens race there was 1 U23 and 11 SM, compared with 253 MV40 and 231 MV50, as well as 21 MV60 and 3 MV70s!
Whatever the reasons, this race in particular has very few youngsters in it. I thought it might be to do with the length, but it's an AS, which doesn't seem to put younger runners off elsewhere.....
    ....it's all downhill from here.

I think thats just the current status.. it goes in waves, its always been an older persons sport but a few years ago top 10 at the tuesday evening series was a tough run, you'd have a good 15 runners and a good 3-4 15-18 year olds in the mix.. now its swung back again.. in a few years no doubt it will swing back again..

When I lived there I stopped racing in North Wales apart from a few races a year and I think many do similar now, if I want to race I want to actually race so would rather drive to the peak, lakes, shropshire... the bigger races, Eilio, Snowdon, Peris, Cader or any champs races were normally competitive but many of them were often fairly much solo runs - not saying I was winning them at all just not racing stride for stride like you would elsewhere..

You don't get 'bragging rights' just anywhere dom. Besides, imagine getting seen by your mates wearing 70s shorts and an Athletic Club vest?
