    English Uphill Races

    Hi

The details for the Turner English Junior Championships are now available at the Broughton Runners website or get the pdf directly here.

There is (hopefully was) a typo in the Calendar and on the FRA website. There are U8 and U10 up/down races, all the others are uphill only.

Fairly short, but quite steep! The top runners will run all of it, I bet.

Richard, looking forward to it! We'll try to encourage a good Eden Runners turn out.

And some of those who were mid pack or towards the back of the fields are now the top runners! Which just goes to show that in athletics what you do in early and mid teens doesnt necessarily mean you will be the best at senior level.

Very true - the "best" youngsters often have a temporary advantage - early puberty/oldest in age group/parental control over diet and activity level/yet to put on any fat/yet to discover girls and beer!

Excellent event. Well done to the organising team at Broughton Runners. And it's sunny in Ambleside now!

Just a reminder that all competitors from U12 to U18 will have to carry waterproof tops, hat and gloves and U16s and U18s will have to carry waterproof bottoms too. At present the forecast for Saturday is very mixed and it could be cold and wet at the finish (or hot and sunny).

We have just recced the race route. It was warm and sunny in the valley, but cold and windy on the top, with clouds rolling round just above us. This has confirmed our decision about kit requirements.

    Dogs

We have been told by owners that dogs are allowed in the parking field, but they will have to be under control. That means they will have to be on a lead at all times. They have had stock killed by dogs in the past.
