    Junior Do

    Hi all

Unfortunately due to building & refurbishment work taking longer than anticipated, Rossendale are unable to host this year’s junior do at Marl Pitts.

The Junior Do will now take place at Queen Katherine School, Kendal. on Saturday 19th July and hosted by Helm Hill.
Many of you will know it from the English Schools Championships last year.

The event will take the same format, arriving for 10:00, split into age groups for coaching sessions with an FRA coach, a presentation with a junior focus from an elite athlete, then a conditioning/flexibility session (if you have a yoga mat in the family, please bring it along!) lunch, a short presentation on next years series & International opportunities/training camps, then the awards finishing around 2.30/3.00.

Remember, if you have started four Championship races you will have earned a 2014 FRA Championship T-shirt, six races (yes I know there are seven races this year but you only need to do six) and an exclusive 2014 FRA Championship Hoody (as well as T-shirt) is yours.

You can order your t-shirt & hoody as soon as you have the requisite number of races via the FRA shop on the Felljunior website
    www.felljunior.org.uk/FRAJunior/index.php
then collect at the do or get it sent to you, however p&p will be added.

All who have competed in some or all of the the junior Championship races are welcome.

Apologies for the late change in plans but I'm sure it will be a cracking day nonetheless.

    Cheers
    Duncan

Junior Do 20th July at Queen Katherine School, Kendal

Been away on holidays but did want to say Thank You to a number of people who made it a great day and, as some have said & I agree, the best one yet.

QK School for allowing us to host & Billy Procter for opening up the school on his day off & providing great facilities for the 160 that attended.

FRA Coaches, Nick Harris, Phil Bolton, Richard Lecky-Thompson, Steve Pearson, Anna Stevens, Rachel Mellor, Tim Miller & Derek Hurton for leading some great coaching sessions for the mightily enthusiastic youngsters.

Rob Jebb. A fantastic talk on his life & progression through the junior ranks. His passion for competing and being in the mountains shone through. Didn't win a race until his 21st birthday, a fantastic story.. Inspirational.

Tracy Dixon, who ran a great core & stretching session to music in the gym. Seeing so many juniors in their (well earned) purple hoodies & t-shirts, plus quite a number of parents/coaches going for it in the gym was also inspiring!

And Tom Addison. For not only presenting the medals & trophies, but for another inspiring and moving talk to finish the day. Tom "I was rubbish at 12/14" Addison, wasn't even the fastest junior in his own family! But stuck at it, enjoyed being in the hills & followed (& worked very hard) his dream.

Thanks also to Jim Godwin, for all his work with the results, his felljunior website & help in getting the do going (particularly with coordinating tshirts & hoodies).

And Colin Driver, for his support of the Championships in terms of prizes & vouchers, which is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all the feedback sheets from everyone, which are very useful & will inform next years Championships, but mostly thanks to all parents, coaches and critically, juniors for your enthusiasm & energy & contributing to a great day.

Keep smiling, keep working hard, keep enjoying and keep training & racing. You never know where you'll end up!

    Cheers

    Duncan
PS Remember, If you haven't ordered your T shirt (4 races) & hoody (6 races) you only have until 19th August (30 days from the junior do) to order them.
