    Heptonstall Grand Depart

    6 miles - 1500 feet - Cat A race - Sat 5th July - 19.30

    Please note our Festival Race has been given a Tour de France friendly start time of 19.30...

    The route cross the route of the Tour de France (twice!) less than 15 hours before the peleton

    Might be worth brining some beer money and a tent.

    Hi Trig, can you give us a flavour of what festivities will be happening in Heptonstall, at or around race HQ, before and after the race?
    I plan to be in the area (HB) that evening.

    Apologies for the delay - just had few days in the Borrowdale doing the Billy Bland Challenge with Heptonstall Hurriers

    Heptonstall will form part of the massive party that will Hebden Bridge - Saturday will include Giant Screen in Calder Holmes Park, street entertainment, plus various concerts and happenings up and down the valley.

    I think the park will have capacity for 8000 - the Tour day 1 and 2 will be screened live - see link; http://www.hebdenbridge.co.uk/news/2014/121.html

    Hebden will be buzzing all week with Hebden Bridge Arts Festival - worth checking out various bike related arts events on the festival website;
    http://hebdenbridgeartsfestival.co.uk/whatson/
    The cinema is showing a host of cycling films; http://www.hebdenbridge.co.uk/news/2014/129.html

    Our race is on the Saturday evening with the aim getting us all in place for Hebden Bridge's big day on the Sunday - here are the timings for Sunday's bike action;
    http://www.hebdenbridge.co.uk/news/2014/098.html

    The fell race will see Heptonstall decked out in bunting, lighting BBQs, and serving up French food for runners and their families. The pub has booked some live music, and there are various camping options - including Heptonstall Bowling Club's panoramic fields overlooking Hebden Bridge (500 feet below) they are offering 25% discount to FRA members;http://www.heptonstallclub.co.uk/Event.aspx?EventID=27

    Hey Steve
    Did I hear you say that it would be free entry for all runners being judged by you as having nicely shaved legs?

    HEPTONSTALL GRAND DEPART - 5th July - need a camp site???

    The village bowling club has facilities - only 15 mins walk from Hebden Bridge Tour Hub. The site is on a secluded field on a promontory over looking the Calder Valley. The site not over looked by any road or buildings. The field looks over 20 miles of the South Pennines hills, 500 feet above Hebden Bridge. The club has been granted a temporary campsite licence for the weekend of the Tour de France and The Heptonstall Fell Race. The field can accomodate up to 60 tents. The clubhouse will be open 24hrs for campers access and breakfast sandwiches will be available. The bar will be open to campers and visitors and we are holding a free disco on the Saturday night for everyone. A free parking space is included for every tent booked. Prices are £35 per night. (FRA DISCOUNT 25%)
