    Fastest Bob Graham's

Was reading an old thread that said that at the time of ladies record of 18-49 for BGR only 16 men had beaten it. Am wondering what equivalent is to Nicky S's 18-18. Know fastest are a Billy B, Mark H and Stuart B (all under 15hrs). Can anyone help by listing any other names/times between 15 and 18-12? Know of Mike Nicholson at 17-45, but who else is in there, and thus just how good is Nicky's time (who has just won 10 Peaks Extreme outright).

Mike Johnson and Richard Melon both of Bowland did very quick rounds 2 or 3 years ago. I'm pretty sure Mark Palmer ( I think that's his name ) has as well. The new winter record By jim Mann is 18 h 18 m also.

We had this discussion in 2011 in this thread - http://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/showt...n-fastest-BGRs which is presumably the thread Steve is referring to.

I came up with an all time (this includes repeat rounds rather than just the first round used for club membership) top ten of:

    1 - Billy Bland 13:53 in 1982
    2 - Mark Hartell - 14:54 in 1999
    3 - Stuart Bland - 14:56
    4 - Scoffer - 17:01 in 2003(?)
    5 - Steve Birkinshaw - 17:09 in 2005
    6 - Simon Bourne - 17:20(?) - 2007(?)
    7 - Chris Near - 17:23 - 2010
    8 - Morgan Donnelly - 17:24 in 2005
    9 - Richard Mellon - 17:38 in 2010
    10 -Mike Nicholson - 17:45 in 1977

    Morgan then listed this:

So to accompany Bob's list, here are the 13 fastest first rounds from the records of the BG Club:

    1. Stuart Bland 14.56 14/8/82
    2. Andrew Schofield 17.01 22/8/03
    3. Steve Birkinshaw 17.09 21/5/05
    4. Simon Bourne 17.20 17/6/06
    5. Chris Near 17.23 02/5/10
    6. Morgan Donnelly 17.26 21/5/05
    7. Richard Mellon 17.38 22/5/10
    8. Geoff Clucas 17.40 25/6/89
    9. Mike Nicholson 17.45 13/8/77
    10. Neil Wrigley 17.48 24/5/97
    11= Mike Johnson 17.49 04/7/09
    11= Ian Charlton 17.49 27/6/83
    13. Steve Parr 17.58 05/7/81

And Brian (Covell) has calculated that 66 members have achieved times of less than 20 hours on their first successful rounds as follows:

    14.00-14.59 1
    15.00-15.59 0
    16.00-16.59 0
    17.00-17.59 12
    18.00-18.59 16
    19.00-19.59 37

There's only a few who've gone back and done a second round so the two lists aren't too dissimilar. Billy Bland held the record with his first round in 18:50, his 13:53 time being his third(?) round. Mike Nicholson's time of 17:45 temporarily taking the record from him. Paul Cornforth did his round on the same day I did (also the same day that Steve Birkinshaw and Morgan Donnelly did their fast times) in a time that I think was 18:20.

Afraid not. I'd be surprised if there's more than 10 ladies who've done sub 20hr. Three years ago the total sub 20hr was 76, not sure how many went sub 20 in 2012 but there were only 3 in 2013 (all male) and there's been just one so far this year, again male. I think we reckoned on three ladies having gone sub 20hr.

I need to get both these lists sorted out.

I've only just started asking about age (and nationality) on the ratification form so the official answer is ....

    No idea!

Bob, what about Mark Palmer's sub 15 hour round of 3 or 4 years ago? We were supporting a Bowland round ( think it was Andrew Crook ) at Wasdale when Mark went through. I'm sure that he had people of the ilk of Mike & Hazel Robinson, Scoffer and maybe Mark Roberts on L3 &/or L4.

The lists above were drawn up in January 2011 before Mark's round later that year. As I say, I need to work on producing definitive lists for both men and women.

According to singletrack: http://singletrackworld.com/forum/to...b-graham-round - "Mark Palmer who did 14:59 earlier this month, 4th fastest on record" in 2011
