Funnily enough I run a lot of that regular.
I suppose to get the longer stuff will need to go to snodonia or the lakes once a month

Do not need to got that far, From Hayfield in Derbyshire you can do these:

If you can do a few reps of this then that is very serious training.

A run like "the kinder dozen" is also pretty serious training.

I'd want to do three or four days like the Killer during the spring. Having a decent route relatively close to home if you're short of time, tired or the weather is too bad for Wales or Lakeland (no point driving to Keswick in Jan or Feb if you can't get on the hill imho) is great

do strava have a leaderboard for descent times, or is that considered dangerous?!

I plan to do the dozen and killer. Know most of the routes now.

One thing that I did (and enjoyed) was wild camp for a few days at a time and just spend days in the hills. To take Adnan's point, this fits my schedule as I work away from home much of the time and needed to max the time I did have.

The top of it is dominated by Pennine. Andy is a genius going downhill.

    FIVE MINUTES!?!?
and there was I thinking my 8:44 might be quite good
I might just have a chance of threatening your 7:52 though!

I can go faster than that.

Here is another good downhill one (Shooting Cabin down to Kinder road)
http://www.strava.com/segments/4624201 Andy is a close second on this one.

Mark Burton is top on virtually all of the segments that matter around the Hayfield/Kinder area.

Thanks for them. Never been to Hayfield. What's the parking like?
