If it's on it'll have to be a a very different course as the pipeline swathes right through the current one. There's nothing mentioned on Schofield or the school's website. However I'm told that the works will be over by the end of September so here's hoping.

Did anybody do the Spofforth trail race? If so I wonder if the new course was better. A lot of runners said it was harder with more ascent.

Smile Spofforth Gala Trail Race 10K

Point of information for all who'd like a great day out with the family (Gala 31.08.09 13.30) in a pre-montane scenario: the race is back to its original (and best) course (designed by me) now that the bridleways, which were closed last year, are open again. I'll be announcing so if you want to say hello it'll be a good opportunity. It's a hell of a good record for the course
(31.29 by Darran Bilton) so worth doing if you've a competitive streak.

Does that mean it's exactly the same course as the inaugural race in 2004 GD? If I'm fit enough to do it again I'll just be happy to get under my time from that year (and get my name spelt correctly in the results!!).

My wife and I are thinking of doing this race as we've just moved into the Skipton area....
How far is Spofforth from Skipton?

It'll be 25+ miles glenn - A59 to Harrogate then A661 South east to Spofforth (tho of course there are alternatives to avoid H'gate!!)

It's exactly the same course as the original Multi T except without the pointless run aound the big field to finish. You just run along the side of the beck (Toadhole Beck)to the end. The distance is really 6 miles unless you take an extra massive loop around the bog at 6K. You can save a bit of time by hopping along the stones near the wall, but take care. The tape around the bog is to stop people losing their shoes! (This has happened to several of the organisers in the past.)
I'll make sure you get your name spelt correctly as well.

I nipped over to Stirton the other week for an evening run and it didn't seem too far. Get yourselves over

    Will do...
I was gutted I missed that Stirton race as that is where I've bought a place...Sharp Haw has been my regular running haunt recently.

We will definately be running Spofford though.
