    Inn in the Peaks?

Some old friends have floated the idea of a walking weekend in the Peaks. Any recommendations for somewhere to stay? Clean, cosy, decent ale and food essential!

The Cheshire Cheese in Hope has a good reputation. Not stayed there myself, though.

walking distance to the Cheshire Cheese and the benefits of you not staying over a pub!

The Scotsman's Pack at Hathersage is well worth a try

The Millstone Inn at Hathersage should tick all your boxes

A little bit further up the A6187 is the Fox House Inn at Longshaw estate. I've never stayed there but the food is good.

The Woodbine café is always worth a visit, and it sports an open fire!

Thanks for the advice. Will check these out when we've settled on a date.

Great beer and handy for many great peak runs. This is one of Dark Peaks regular haunts and on many Wednesday nights we can pretty much take it over.

I could point you at some wilder runs if you want to explore more than the usual Edale tourist routes

Moved to Edinburgh for a year, then 2 years near York, now in deepest Southern England. Still running a bit to around 10 miles off-road, but more or less retired from racing. I occasionally pop on to FRA for old times' sake.
