    Road shoe with low heels

Evening chaps, I'm after some advice if I may?

For the last year, I've been using Inov-8's 233 road shoes for all my road training. I think they are getting a bit past their best and I'm looking for alternatives.

I quite like the low heel of the Inov-8's (3mm in this case), and I land fairly flat footed, slightly biased towards the toe. Unfortunately I know jack-sh1t about road shoes and which brand or model to look for which might offer an alternative.

So far, Nike's Free range has been suggested, as they do a range of heel drops from 0mm through to 10mm. I've noticed other brands do 0mm drops, but they look like racing shoes and may not last a years training (approx 300 road miles).

So, can anyone offer suggestions or give me a steer where to look or try?

    Thanks in advance.

    Mart.

I alternate between the 233s and some saucony fast witches. Don't notice much difference between the two tbh

Another vote for Saucony here, I use the kinvara 4's - 4mm drop but with some padding.

what's wrong with the 233's? i love mine and will buy another pair when they finally die.

Saucony Virrata - zero drop, with 18mm stack height, but actually feel loads better with the 3mm insole removed.

    Cheers for the feedback y'all!

obrienk - To be quite honest, I've been very happy with the 233's, and tempted to go for the same again, certainly given some of the prices in the sales at present. Part of the reason for posting was to see what other options are out there as well as to educate myself.

I also kinda feel as though I've been sucked into the Inov-8 ethos (currently don't wear any other brand!) and need to open my eyes a little to alternatives. I mean, there started as fell specialists, what would they know about road running....??

Just checked - The fastwitch is a 4mm drop and only 196g. Saucony have them down as a race shoe but if you are used to a minimal shoe with a mid to toe foot strike, then I'm sure they will be fine. I use them for anything from parkrun up to HM though admittedly I generally try to stay away from the dark side!

233's all the way! why change if they work for you? I've been through a few pairs and would be reluctant to try anything else. There's way too much choice now.

I have a pair of 233. Probably the most comforeetable shoes I've ever had. A belting product from Inov-8

New Balance 980 is well cushioned and 4mm drop, think it's about 280g.

There's a trail version of this shoe out now as well, still 4mm, but a chunkier tread and a bit heavier.
