I choose to be positive and buy Walshes, supporting Uk Manufacturing. Think global act/buy local.
Don't feel too sorry for Inov8. they have had plenty of free publicity.

Time to take the dog for a walk, in my gortex inovs. Excellent shoes but finally dying after two and a half years service.

Despite some problems with how long the uppers last on certain of their shoes, and a natural curmudgeonly cynicism about some of their more "lifestyle" range , I think Wayne Edy and Inov -8 have done a great job in stirring up the market and encouraging, well, innovation in the industry. I for one would have run a lot less if I hadn't bought a pair of Mudroc-290s back in 2004 and discovered the joys of a comfortable running shoe with bloody good grip that I can run up mountains in! 40+ pairs later, Is till find them hard to beat and I hope they do well.

I think most people accept that China has the manufacturing world sewn up (pardon the pun) but the intellectual design side and innovation coming from the UK is something we should embrace rather than criticise for wanting to do well.

    Indeed.

I was one of the first to run in INOV-8, not solely because of my prescience but because I was sent a free pair of the first shoe to trial (and pose with in local newspapers) and I met Wayne Edy several times; since when, as they say, I have used no other brand for fell running.

Every fell shoe brand until Wayne arrived was a "me too" clone and he deserves all the success that has come his way.

Well, Inov-8 copied the fashion running shoe market and put fell shoe soles on some of the models.

I don't think you can say that the Swoop and Wave Harrier to name just 2 were "me too" clones of Walsh / ETA.

You think Walsh are made in the UK? All the parts come from China, they stick them together in Bolton, lets me clear about this.

    Ha ha!

You'll be telling me next that Weetabix, Alpen, Ready Brek, etc are owned by Bright Foods which is a Chinese company.

    (Oops! They are).

    ....... And Rolls Royce (aerospace)

Raw materials from, throughout the world, Casting, Machining, assembling; China, USA, Germany, Italy, Singapore etc.
It fooled George Osbourne. He thinks they are British.

Thankfully, they do still make some bits and stick them together in the UK
