    Ultra Mallorca 2016

    Hi

Is anyone entering the Ultra Mallorca Serra de Tramuntana 2016? Last year the pre-registration was from 1st to 14th September. This year I can't see how to enter on the site at http://ultramallorca.com/en/.

I did read that the route was being changed at http://ultramallorca.com/comunicado-...-edicion-2016/ . Try it with Chrome and it will translate for you. So perhaps I will need to keep visiting http://ultramallorca.com/en for an update? Any more info welcome.

    Thanks

Got a reply from the organisers this morning

Thanks for your interest in the race.
A few days ago we released a statement via web explaining the problem we have this year.
It seems that everything will be solved and that the race will be held again in April 2016 but until we have solved all open enrollment and can not confirm the date of the race.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.
    Here's the link to press

I did the race in 2012.

The intention is that it follows the route of the GR221 footpath.

The difficulties arise from the fact that the authorities in Mallorca "created" the route of the GR221 before having control over all the land over which the route runs. The government has acquired some of the land, but quite a few sections remain in private hands.

Anyone who knows about access in Mallorca will be able to tell you that many landowners use a combination of guns and dogs to help preserve their rights.

One suspects it may be years before land owners die, attitudes change and all the necessary land can be acquired.

Until then it feels likely that there will continue to be "access" problems......
The only one who can tell you "You can't" is you. And you don't have to listen.
