Thanks for the link. After spending some time on the internet the lightest and cheapest alternative with good feedback is aluminium snow stake.

Surely the cheapest alternative is to go before you go.

The trick is to 'go before you go' to ensure you are 'empty' then only eat as much as you need to.
I find on MM's that I don't need to 'go' because I've used all my fuel up and therefore there is no 'waste'.

This thread is why I still read the FRA forum -such intellect, such wit, such bullshit!

    Here is my contribution:

We seem to be in danger of getting our collective knickers in a monumental twist over a bit of peel or poo when the biggest contributor to damaging ecosystems (of which we just happen to be a part, natural or otherwise) is us and our carthorse trampling over acres and acres of ground. Maybe we should all learn to levitate.

Or turn gravity down a bit. There's a big deal being made of accidental littering, and the spray painting of a stone (by an RO), on Facebook. But I think the above applies. There will be collateral damage. If we go in the hills, and race in them, to a certain degree it has to be accepted. We will damage them, but as a crumb of comfort, not as much as the glaciers did.

Some strategically pre-applied vaseline greatly reduces the need for paper.....
