    The Silva trail runner 2 I ordered has now arrived and it's excellent. The other thing I have often used if route finding is a concern (I agree with the comments above on the need for a beam for this) is a Led Lenser P7 hand held torch, it's reasonably small and light and if needs be gives about 300 lumens / 250m beam, usually only need it for a short while then it's back in the pocket

    Alpkit Muon headlamp seem great on paper.1 AA battery 130 lumens long battery life and lightweight. I myself have Spark Lights SD52 Neutral white 2AA headlight for general purpose.great trusty lamp.used over 2 years while camping and hiking.upto 280 lumens.my 2 cent.thanks
