    2015 Report

    Happy new year to everyone.

Here's the bare figures for 2015:

    • There were 142 registrations (15 ladies) with 71 successful rounds (9 ladies)
    • There were 71 successful clockwise rounds but no successful anticlockwise rounds.
    • Fastest times were 18:28 for the men and 21:51 for the ladies.
    • The average age of successful contenders was 39yrs 11 months with ages ranging from 17 to 56.
    • 64 of the successes were on their first attempt and 7 had attempted the round once before.

I'll update the membership list with names during the next deluge.

Bob what about Nicky Spinks BG over easter last year? Kind of feels like one that should knock down the ladies time.

James, the report concerns registered attempts/successes by prospective members, existing members don't need to register an attempt so don't figure in them. Very few do more than one round anyway. The only exceptions to this tend to be winter attempts which are still rare enough to be of interest, there were a handful of registrations for December for example but the floods put paid to any attempt.

Good stats Bob. Is a 50% success rate typical? Out of interest how many anticlockwise rounds were attempted?

50% seems fairly typical for recent years. Also apparent is that if someone doesn't succeed on their first attempt then they rarely try again. Anticlockwise rounds? Just one registered.

Any ideas why only 1 anticlock? I realise clockwise always been more common, but 1?? Is this increasing info on web etc, becoming selective for AC
Also seems a little strange that someone would only have 1 go.

My attempt came to a halt at Honister with a dicky knee. I probaby will not try again, purly down to the effect the training has on my family. If it was just me I would definitly go again.

No idea why at all. Could be increasing info available plus once someone has done it clockwise then club colleagues are more likely to do it that way as their colleague will know it that way.

As for just having one go, we aren't sure. I only asked people to log how many previous attempts they had made a couple of years ago as we'd get asked about it. I don't know how Brian Covell did it, presumably he had a list and updated it when someone registered. There may be a difference in how Brian logged "attempts" and what people regard as an attempt: if someone registers but doesn't even set off then Brian may have had it as an "attempt" but the contender wouldn't.
