The Worcestershire Beacon race has 1320 feet of ascent in 7 miles and is a fell race in all but name. The route starts and finishes at the Rose Bank Gardens in Great Malvern (plenty of parking nearby). There is a route description at http://www.sarova-abbeyhotel.com/wp-...ce-7-miles.pdf

This race used to be in the FRA calendar - I may be wrong but I'm sure it was pictured on the front of the calendar one year!

Strangely this race seems to have passed me by.
Rather embarassing really as I only live down the road and have run over the hills regularly for years!
Anyway just marked it up on the calendar to do this year. October 8th if anyone fancies it.

Worcestershire Beacon is a decent race, but it's all on hard surfaces/tracks and DOESN'T GO TO THE TRIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ran it for the last two years and it's harder than you think it might be

Many years ago, the Worcestershire Beacon race was in the FRA calendar, as was another race in the same county, the Bredon Hill Bash.

Excellent info on runs near Malvern, I will be working in Malvern for 2 or 3 weeks in March so will put this info to good use.
