    Junior Races

    Hi there

I am Head of a girls' primary school in London and an FRA member and sometime Ambleside resident.

I wondered if anyone could advise me of an appropriate race I could take the fastest Year 5 and 6 girls to over the Summer (term-time or holiday), as an introduction to fell running and racing? I see that the Junior Championships start from Year 7 so that's out.

I have a particularly strong set of Year 5 girls and would love to give them exposure to the wonders of junior fell. Of course, distance is rather a challenge. Clearly the larger the event, the more we can justify the journey.

    Any advice much appreciated.

    Henry

There are U08 and U10 races alongside all the Championship races.
No series points or medals, but awards for completing at least 4 races.
The minimum age is 6 on race day.
The FRA Calendar can be filtered for junior races.

Thanks for the advice. I will pursue.

    Much appreciated, Henry

You have a few summer options here as well when it's updated for 2016.
