    Crook peak cake race.

Some Photos from a realy nice evening at the Crook Peak Cake race.

    http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/iforpowell/CrookPeak2007

Pete James won as usual but was pushed very hard by Deon McNeally how holds the very impresive record for the other local race Beacon Batch. I have never seen anyone get within two minutes of it since I have been in the area.

First prize for the race is a large home made cake which is presented with a large knife....

Great photos, thanks. My sister used to live in Cross: I have happy memories of running over Crook Peak and Wavering Down. Lovely part of the country

went along for the first time lastnight as was in the area.
What a cracking little race. Really enjoyed the course. Was quite refreshing to do a point to point over such a short distance.
Will try and get back next year and have a go at winning the cake
    cheers.

Ifor, thanks for provoking many happy memories! Many moons ago, Crook Peak became the first hill I ever ran up as I tried to regain fitness. I was stationed at RAF Locking at the time. On a Sunday morning, Cathy would drive over to the White Hart with the papers and I would run over Crook Peak and Wavering Down with the dog to meet up for a well earned pint! Happy days!
I used to think Crook Peak was SO huge!

    Crook Peak

What a cracking little race that was. Working in the area so I thought it would be rude not to! Refreshing change to have your numbers wrote on your wrists. All credit to the organise for insisting on uppper body cover.

If any results get posted pls let us know

    Re: Crook Peak

We do have some nice little hills down south! How long are you in the area for... Mendip Muddle on 10th October is a good (hard!) race.
