    Bob Graham Round GPS downloads

    Hello every peeps

has anyone got any ideas on where I could get hold of the Bob Graham Round Route for a down load on my GPS ?

I'd like t have it so I can try the route at my own pace over the next few months- in little sections at a time of course.

Seems a bit cruel to be looking for BG instructions in the Beginners section... Give us a chance!!!

Well after looking at it and trying one leg, I can safely say I am still a beginner.

I;ve got a tracklog of my actual round (you might want to ignore the bit on Ill Crag and on Pillar - doh!). It's taken from a Garmin Foretrex 201. I'll fwd it if you like.

To be honest though, i only planned to use the GPS as a back up in the very awful weather but it ended up being a nice way of recording the round, including those all important arrival times on the summits (saved time having to write them all down). I;d recced the route well enough to make no major mistakes, even in the clag and rain.

I wouldn't use a GPS to learn the route - just get out there and have a play looking for the best lines and those tell tale little landmarks that point you to them. It's very satisfying on the day when you can use your preparation to say things life 'left at that boulder' - more satisfying i'm sure than following a tracklog.

Whatever you do, have fun getting to know such a great part of the world in more detail than you would ever imagine! Good luck with your prep and let us all know how you get on.

How did you get your batteries to last the round?

Oh easy, i just ran round in under 14 hours.

Ok I might have used two GPS units, borrowing one off a mate. The first might have run out on the descent from Scafell and the second could have possibly run out somewhere on the road section in Newlands.
