I was marshalling at the top of aldermans hill last year when it was the english champs race and was chatting to a couple of fellas who were going to take pictures and they were telling me that if they get any silly poses they just delete them 🤣
I had a bit of "debate" with someone on the facebook page in the last few weeks... they were claiming that fellracing is not about competition but about the camaraderie and everybody getting round and having fun...
An admirable viewpoint to have, i am sure... but what utter twaddle...
Photographers aren't even getting a smile out of me (although i must admit i've occasionally been spurred into a run when i've been power-walking a stiff climb and spotted someone with a camera.... although i expect its like when you're driving and spot a speed camera... too late!!)
Complete poppycock. It's all very casual on FB in my opinion, that's what's good about the forum, there are many serious racers. Just as an aside, i was saying to Charmian on sunday at Gt Wherny that people will ultimately get bored of the commercialism and the fact that social media is now a business. I think FB will soon peak, the dog will shortly have had its day.
