EU have openly refused to discuss a trade agreement wasting three years, demanding money with menaces, Free trade and technology obviates need for a border. It could have been agreed long ago.
So it is non issue, that EU deliberately festered, into one.
EU have deliberately alienated unionists, by annexing Northern Ireland into a separate regime under EU control, or failing that told varadkar to build a wall to deliberately alienate republicans,

It was nationalist who killed the reporter Lyra McKee yesterday, not unionists.
Does it matter? It was a deliberate attempt by IRA to try to force U.K. Into accepting EU annexation of Northern Ireland, which then would upset unionists in equal measure.
Blame EU. Their fault, they refused to discuss free trade or any trade arrangement to obviate need for border infrastructure. EU refuse to negotiate the withdrawal agreement even to get DUP on board, inevitably leaving unionists or republicans disaffected.
EU are deliberately fomenting unrest.
They simply don't care.
