My descent was far too safe and steady. Normally i keep passing people consistently until i end up amongst runners who are either as good as me or better, and then i just hang onto them and look for weaknesses to exploit such as being slow on the flat, which i am not. It's unusual for people to be overtaking me, which is what happened on saturday. Getting an abdominal stitch is caused by breathing into your chest not your tummy and raising your shoulders, it's a sign i'm very out of shape. The worst think you can do is go faster. Jelly legs spoils your proprioception and, unless your result really matters, you'll be risking turning and ankle fighting it. I remember i descended half of Kirk Fell with jelly legs one year, but it's not very technical so i just manned the pain which was utterly terrible.

I've got an entry for Brian Dodd Ken Clough, mainly because i didn't have enough time to sit in as many excavator cabs as i would have liked.

Although Max Wainwright is Matlock and ex-Dark Peak.

Matlock will be running for a champs team medal this year if they get everyone out.

I met Max during a recce of the Great Lakes route - we went round together from Scafell Pike onwards - nice chap, fantastic legs. He was looking to move to the Lakes.

I see Scout Adkin got to the first summit in the same time as Max. She's going well too - impressive.
