    The Cross Fell Race recce

Today did a recce of the new race route with a fellow DFR runner (WV50).
Conditions were unusually dry under foot a cool north breeze and clagg kept the temperature down.
Going steady with plenty of chat we did it in just over 3hours.
The bridle path section is very hard to see so justifies having it marked on the day.
Good spring water at the well also Greg's hut despite the dry spell.
Fast decent back into Garrigill will be fun if there is still running in the legs.
The cairns on the summit were very helpful in the clagg, hopefully on the day the views will make them obsolete.
    Jim (MV60).

Just ran the route again today to see how dry and hot it could be for Saturday.
Water still flowing at 3rd gate, Greg's Hut and the well also the source of the Tees is not dry.
We will have a water tank at the 3rd gate so those not wanting to risk streams can have tap water up on the fell. There was a very nice east breeze all the way round, which is forecast to be stronger on Saturday along with cloud and sunny intervals compared to the full sun today. Mountain swifts and golden plovers on the summit with massive views in all directions. The bridle path is marked with short white posts following an obvious quad track, making navigation through this section much easier.
    Good luck for Saturday, Jim.
