Maybe the ROs that decide to allow GPS should have to publish an online GPX file of the route for runners to download? This might see more ROs opting not to allow GPS at their races?
I was well out of my depth (literally) at my first Great Lakes race in 2012 but I got through it by communicating with other runners and even hikers, something that may be lost if GPS was allowed in the majority of races with people looking at their watches rather than just looking around and talking to people.
The thought of half the field running round following what their watches telling them what to do is horrific. It’s not even fell running I’m afraid never mind racing
It'll be interesting to see how many races register as g/ng. And then the attendance numbers at both.
Last night I dreamt that Trump was chairing the gps negotiations which was worrying on several levels.
Having just met with the race committee I can confirm next year's Shutlingsloe will be GPS-free.
Where’s my fell shoes? I might just have a run out too #gpsjustsayno
Made the BBC Wales news website yesterday.

As per usual, the headline writers have a great way of using simple words to make a sensationalist slant to the article:
Bid to ban GPS from helping fell running racers find their way
Simon Blease
Monmouth
A balanced article.
I'm with Mike Blake's ethos.
