Tough day for me, i was feeling dunnerdale in my legs after 50yds of the climb, don't think i've ever had my legs burn up that fast. Was never really in the vets race, the vets winner finished about 2mins quicker than i normally do, and i was finding it hard to get rid of the burn in my legs. I had a reasonable descent and finished in about 45mins, 3mins slower than normal. Cheers to all the people organising and helping, a very good spread of tea and cakes.

One of my best Fell race days out! A diamond day helped - as we came out of the fog in Lower Wharfedale to sun and golden colours as we approached Litton. Park in a field and register in a pub garden meeting load of friends. Race was a joy - even the big hill and me not winning! Then back to the pub garden to eat chip butties, talk bolloxs and enjoy the November sun. Great to meet Hester, WJB and loads of others. Our community is a good one!
Is it legal to shoot down Stolly's drone? FFS.
The race was won by Vic, followed in by another woman!

It's on again, but the route seems to have been shortened for some reason, possibly to recategorise it as cat A. It looks like it's just round the trig and back, but this will mean a lot of congestion around the top.

That’s great news and I agree with you that removing the run round the top is a real shame. Not sure I’ll be able to do it, but will try. Hope we still get a chip butty at the finish.
I know who was flying the drone - he used to be active on here and his partner is a good artist who runs.

Not may pre-entered for this, from what i can recall it's an EOD favourite though. My extensive recces of the descent will stand me in good stead, i've got my eye on 1st V40, but who knows who's going to turn up. I believe i know the fastest route down, but it's complicated with many lines to memorise, and there's a 1200' climb to get out of the way first.

Not a great day really. I'd set off in time to allow 45mins warmup, but with road closures, road works and winnebago problems I got 15mins. I even took my road shoes so I could get a good half hour in on the lanes to work on my gait. My left knee started within seconds of the gun going and I knew it was pain or pull out, I chose pain. The climb wasn't too bad because the recruitment in VMO balanced out the cramping in VL, but as soon as I hit the plateau it was like having tacks hammered into my kneecap.

My shortcuts at the top of the hill paid off handsomely and I dusted two people who were a long way in front of me at the trig, but I couldn't get into that flow state. All I could think about was my knee pain, and my head wasn't clear enough to descend properly; that said I caught the first lady and put enough time into her to stay in front. I got a bit ill tempered with a guy with a camera who'd chosen to crouch on the course rather than off it. This is a good example of the sort of negativity that poisons you when you try and race with an injury, it represents the gap between where you are and where you want to be and the stress of dealing with it.

Because I hadn't trained properly for over 3wks my lungs had filled with crap and had not been getting cleared regularly. I've spent the last 24h coughing relentlessly and my chest really hurts now. This race is now, in its new form, a total lungbuster with the loss of the tarn loop, which previously brought some respite and a totally different skillset into the mix. The start now goes over a bike rack so I started fast to get clear and paid for it a bit.

I'll be surprised if I make it to the Litton Xmas cracker, I'm going to have to see someone about my problems and the recovery might be months in the making.

Such a shame they have taken the top loop around the tarn out. One of the most fun races I have done.

    Nice one MrB

I've been suffering with my chest/cough for past couple of weeks, so much so that i decided not to race at Callow yesterday.
