    Trainers for Pen y Fan

    Hi,
just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on trail shoes or maybe fell shoes for running Pen Y Fan in the winter months. Not sure if fell shoes are necessary since much of the path is hard packed.
Any thoughts or experiences greatly appreciated.

If it is hard packed trail shoes would be OK. It can be worth having a pair of these "Inov8 Arctic Claw 300 Trail Running Shoes" for when it is more icy,

Many thanks. Had a very helpful chat with a chap from Pete Bland and think I'll be goin for some inov8 roclite 305. The Arctic claws could make for some interesting icy running. Sadly my budget doesn't stretch to 2 pairs.

Mate, £30 on a pair of More Mile Cheviot mk4. Perfect for all conditions! Why people shell out £90 or more for fell shoes baffles me!

Are the mk 4's any more robust than the first ones Wheeze? I had a pair of mk 2 (I think) and they were binned after less than 100 miles as the upper fell apart!

Yeah, they are. And judging by other threads other brands also suffer this problem.
Oh, and the price has just dropped to £25!
