    Angry Blencathra Summit Ring

I've just found out that the summit ring of Blencathra has been removed apparently by vandals. Apparently it was taken in late August 2018. Absolutely shocking! Why anyone would remove it is beyond me. The OS have confirmed it was not them:

There's a fundraising page here. They've already got over £1000 which was their target so hopefully it will be replaced soon:

Vandals in the Northern Fells. Glad to hear that Northern FR have now repaired the Lingy Hut.

Yes I passed through the Lingy Hut in December in quite awful weather, and whilst it wasn't a "lifesaver" it was certainly welcome respite. I didn't even know it was a bothy... remembered a 'shooting box' in that area from the Wainwright Books.

Was pretty disgusted to read that it had been vandalised, and well done to NFR.

Incidentally I see that NFR are taking over the running of the Old Crown Round fell race, which is an excellent route, and one I'll definitely be attending.

The new ring was going to be installed this weekend, but the weather forecast has caused the event to be postponed until the end of the month.

Looks like its going to be 31st of March aiming for 10.30. Rumour has it that Simon Yates is going to be there (Touching the Void author).
