A lot will depend on who has trained themselves in the fine art of coping with sleep deprivation and sleep monsters, it`s not just about physical training when covering these distances.

On the song front it has to be Pink Floyds Speak to me / Breathe

Never mind songs, what about Bible verses:

". . . They will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. "
    Isaiah 40:31
In his lifetime he suffered from unreality, as do so many Englishmen.

    Ok this one works:-

More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope.
    Romans 5:3-4

I've been away from the trackers and Facebook page this evening, but looks like Jasmin has about a 6 mile lead on Eugene, and a further 15 miles in Eoin, who appears to be resting/sleeping at Alston.

Personally think Eoin's tactics look spot-on, he'll probably go to the finish without stopping and may well catch up.

Having said that, Jasmin must have at least six hours head start on him, so could afford a sleep at the next cp and still get out ahead.

Eugene will also just go until he drops or takes a wrong path, no matter how much sleep he sacrifices.

    Certainly not over yet.

C’mon Jasmine. Embrace the sleep monsters.

(Maybe they are actually real but normally you don’t see them)

Woke up this morning to see she is on the final 'marathon' leg from Bellingham to the finish.

Someone said, either above, or an another thread, that if Jasmin won it would be the most unsurprising result in ultra racing... doesn't make it any less astonishing though. Assuming she sees it out, she's just powering through on hardly any sleep, and looking an absolute class above the likes of Eugene and Eoin who are Spine veterans and have both won the race.

    Eoin's blog!

There is a reasonable chance the race could be won outright by a female this year, as Jasmin Paris is competing. She is a phenomenal athlete. Her record speaks for itself. Her Bob Graham Round time is my particular favourite of hers. She’s also the current British fell running champion. She will be one of the fastest runners in the race for sure. This will be her first non-stop multi-day race, so it will be interesting to see how she will adapt. It makes it hard to predict how she will compete as a result. If all goes well its possible she could break the course record and win. Needless to say I definitely expect that Jasmin will win the female category.
