    Re: Vitamin C

I'll be serious (..or is that boring??)

Not a doc but this is what I have found out.

Vit C isn't belived to be harmful in large doses as the body expels it. But large doses do cause the runs (wish it helped me on long runs )

I was told though that you need to have sufficnt zinc to asbsorb the Vit C and so I now take Vic C with zinc (you can buy it like that) when run down.

Also when run down I take echinacea (....can never spell that)

I haven't had a cold is aaaages...mind you had every other bloody thing wrong with me lol

Had mine at breakfast time, as I do nearly every day. Who needs pills & medicines when there's Marmite around to cure all ills?

    Re: Vitamin C

    Alright you lot,

I'm back on the Vit C, I have been dieting a lot recently (running better, watch out) and have become aware that I might need to ward off colds and bugs that go hand in hand with eating less.

Got my Asda 1250% RDA Vit C Tablets at the ready.

    Re: Vitamin C

i'll admit i've not read through all 9 pages and im not an expert, but i was advised that the RDA for Vit C is literally the bare min to avoid getting scurvey. For us active types we could easily require more.... even as much as 3000mg.

Vitamin C is an important element for a body. It is good for colds, flus and other illnesses. This super vitamin helps the body fight off stress & infections and maintain red blood cells. Vitamin C is also known for lowering cholesterol & blood pressure and fighting asthma.
