B Bland at the 3 Peaks

Anyone remember running against Billy Bland in the 3 Peaks race? In talking with him and Ann Bland we have determined that he ran it twice, but never did very well in it. Have got the 1977 result tracked down and he thinks it may have been 1978 or 1979 that he ran a second time, but is not sure. TIA

The 3P Association have (or had when I was involved) a full set of the results for every 3P race which are downloadable and I presume available to responsible researchers.

I did a bit of research last year into 1978 Three Peaks as a bit of a celebration of the anniversary of Harry Walker's win. I didn't notice any comments about Billy Bland (and would definitely have made reference to it!)

I would have thought anyone running in 1978 would remember that race, not just because it was Harry's first Three Peaks win!, but because it was the year Ted Pepper died - the first death in a FRA Registered race.

Im the current 3P Entry Secretary and have the 3 Peaks historical results. 3.17 1976 91st place, 3.09 1977 34th place no result for 1978. I had personally messaged Steve on 10th March

Harry Walker went on to win the 3P again in 1979 and 1981 but then 25 years later in 2003 his son Dave won, which was somewhat special and prompted a great Pete Hartley picture of them both with the trophy for the June 2003 Fellrunner (page 43)
